Will West, PhD

Dr. Will West is an Investment Advisor at Morningside Venture Investments. He earned his PhD in 1991 in immunology and virology, sponsored by Unilever (UniPath), before holding a postdoctoral position at the National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC). Will went on to Procter & Gamble Healthcare, where he was responsible for clinical development in a number of therapeutic areas, including respiratory and GI. He led and delivered programs throughout Europe, the Americas, South Africa, and China.

Will is a Cofounder and Chief Executive Officer of CellCentric, a development-stage oncology company based on epigenetic research. He also oversees other Morningside biotechnology interests, including chairing VaxEquity and Cyted. Will is Chair of the John Innes Centre, a world-leading research institute focused on plant science and microbiology. In 2011, he was appointed by the Science Minister to the Council of the BBSRC, the UK’s leading funder of bioscience research. Will is on the board of the BioIndustry Association. He holds a master’s degree in clinical research and an MBA from London Business School.
